A project born out of the pandemic of 2020…

The treehouse project began during the 2020 pandemic, as a playful distraction from current events. The chosen location of the treehouse was a spot where the stream winds around it. Since the terrain in this area is rocky, the post holes were a challenge to be placed; once placed, the treehouse would not have an optimal view of the stream. In response to this, a design was created with a central roof beam placed at a diagonal. This offered the best view of the stream below. This design choice also complimented the organic shapes of the surrounding forest. The materials used to build the house were all carefully chosen, in order to compliment the surroundings of the forest. A 90 year old farm roof, 100 year old windows, 110 year old barn hardware, and wood of Doug fir trees from a local mill. Once the outer walls were built, an interior designer became involved with window placement, materials, and furniture.
